Red Circle in Talula is a 36in x 48in acrylic painting on stretched canvas. It was selected by a jury to be included in a February 2019 show at Ashton Gallery.
Red Circle in Talula was the first of my red circle paintings. After dreaming of red circles for a few nights, and not knowing that the blood moon super moon was coming, I went down to my studio and decided I would not leave it until I explored this red circle dream that was haunting me. I threw on some music and began to explore. After time, energy, and multiple layers, this painting emerged. It has been one of my most discussed pieces with fellow artists and collectors as it lends itself to familiar imagery within the abstracted composition of the painting itself. While I was not after a landscape, most of my paintings are haunted by space and people tend to find spatial forms and objects within this painting. Some call the piece a nod to midcentury forms and design while others have mentioned the geometric patterns found throughout, this painting for me represents at its core a land of dreams. As the red circle found its way into mine in deep sleep, so shall the painting emerge from this energy.
The painting is available on my website to purchase or you may email me with inquiries.
